Our products cannot be purchased in liquor stores, only at Ernest Scarano Distillery. We are very proud of all of our brands. They are a uniquely different alternative to commercially produced whiskeys and each one is truly handcrafted. No expense of time or money has been spared to create each handcrafted product.…

First of all, Ernest Scarano should have been in the commercials where he is labeled "The most interesting man in the world." If you're lucky enough to get a few minutes to chat with him, you'll see exactly what I mean.

The whisky is outstanding and must be tried. This distillery is a combination of Ernie and Mark hard work and dedication as well as Ernie personally lobbying the State of Ohio to allow these products to flow.

I can't say enough good about this place and the great Americans running it.

My wife and I stopped in while visiting family in Elmore. Ernest was great to talk to and gave us a nice tour of their distilling process. These are really good rye whiskeys. The old homicide is one of the better craft rye whiskeys that I have ever had. This place is a must if you are in the Elmore area and like whiskey.

This place is just awesome cool. They have some very good rye whiskey. They explained the entire process and provided samples. Bought a couple bottles.

The wife and I were at the local winery and headed towards Fremont. On a whim we passed and then turned around to see this 'micro distillery' having seen the monsters like Jim Beam and the Jack Daniels. This was more fun and personal and the quality was outstanding. All in his barn and all completely Ernest. What a fun time. I am taking some friends from Toledo to see this

      First to Review

We were on a road trip and got off the interstate onto route 6 near Fremont heading west. A very pretty road by the way. It was about 930 Saturday morning and we zipped by an open barn door through which I noticed Scarano's big copper still. There's a single sign announcing the place and we had to do a u turn a 1/2 mile down the road.

      Boy was it worth it!

Devon, Ernest's grandson, told us the story of how his grandfather, who made wine and beer already, was inspired to try distilling. He managed to make his first barrel and aged it six years. That was the first batch of "Old Homicide"

It's dark, and at 140 proof, smooth; it's a single batch bonded rye whiskey and I highly recommend it.
