Myken Destilleri

We're on a tiny island (2 km by 400 m) with only 12 inhabitants, above the Arctic circle, in the Arctic Ocean, 32 km (20 miles) from the nearest point on the mainland (which is in itself pretty remote by any standard...). There are no car feries, only a passenger ferry, which takes 2 hrs to get here, and only comes once a day - weather permitting. It is not unheard of for the ferry to be unable to get here for maybe 14 days in a row. As we "speak", we have had no boat here for the last two days, and probably won't for one or two more. We like to say that in Myken, we all have time to mature properly - both the people and the whisky! :-) 66deg45'40.23" N 12deg28'39.44" E
